Neighbors of a neighboring quarry and nature sanctuary might get some reprieve soon from dust and flooding issues.
The District Board recently accepted amendments to a unusual-use authorization for the enterprise of the McGraw Wildlife Foundation and Beverly Materials’ 350-acre gravel quarry east of Route 25 and south of Route 72. Integrated in the amendments are conditions that could call for the establishment of berms to help lessen flooding, and execution of a dust control arrangement.
Board associate John Fahy, R-West Dundee, said people in his locality are content with the changes. A community trial was held recently in Carpentersville on the matter.
"While the residents may not be joyful that there is a mining outfit, they are in support of seeing it get finished," Fahy said. He said the mining business has slowed to a 30-year progression.
A interim berm on the east and south sides of the close to Fox River Bluffs subdivision could be constructed by quarry operative Beverly Materials or someone hired by the business inside six months of the endorsement, according to county report. This could help help existing drainage problems in the subdivision by redirecting stormwater surplus from around 34 acres covering the southeast curve. Added drainage work on lots in the Fox River Bluffs division could be complete by Beverly Materials or McGraw Foundation.
One character who spoke on behalf of the mining group held a dust control strategy had been submitted and that the situation were suitable.
