Neighbors of a local mine and nature shelter may perhaps get some reprieve shortly from dust and flooding issues.

The County Board of late accepted amendments to a unusual-use permit for the firm of the McGraw Wildlife Foundation and Beverly Materials’ 350-acre gravel mine east of Route 25 and south of Route 72. Integrated in the amendments are provisions that would call for the formation of berms to help mitigate flooding, and implementation of a dust control plan.

Board member John Fahy, R-West Dundee, held residents in his region are pleased with the transformations. A civic trial was held of late in Carpentersville on the issue.

"While the people might not be joyful that there is a mining company, they are in favor of seeing it get completed," Fahy said. He alleged the mining business has slowed to a 30-year progression.

A interim berm on the east and south sides of the close to Fox River Bluffs division would be constructed by pit operator Beverly Resources or someone hired by the business inside six months of the agreement, according to region report. This would help reduce existing drainage troubles in the subdivision by redirecting stormwater runoff from about 34 acres around the southeast bend. Extra drainage work on lots in the Fox River Bluffs sector would be completed by Beverly Resources or McGraw Charity.

One individual who spoke on behalf of the mining corporation alleged a dust control design had been submitted moreover that the situation were satisfactory.
